EMANATION

Since ancient times, humans have intervened in nature and reshaped the landscape, creating geometric spatial forms as a result. This process continues to this day, here in Remetea as well. The new swimming center building is inserted into its surroundings, with its own small ordered space with a defined function. In this way the landscape is humanized, a symbolism expressed by the patinated bronze sculpture placed in front of the building. The public artwork, with its semicircular forms, is in harmony with the building’s geometry and the surrounding topography, while also incorporating sculptural solutions that refers to parts of the human body.  We can imagine shoulders emerging at the water’s surface while swimming, at the same time the main element of the work is a circular form, whose negative central void is inlaid with pebbles from the Mureș River, creating a link to the Remetean landscape. From here the emanation begins, in expanding circles that visualize the ripples appearing on the pool’s surface and lead towards the dominant body–hill form. I have applied this sculptural solution in many of my public and studio works over the years. The sculpture is titled EMANATION (KISUGÁRZÁS), and it can even be interpreted as the source of divine and human activity.

Finally, I wish to express my gratitude for the opportunity to create this public artwork.
